Why do Bad Office Buildings, make Good Residential Buildings?

We have recently been engaged on an extensive Research and Development Study at Shay Cleary Architects into the feasibility of converting stranded office assets into quality residential apartments, specifically in an Irish context. There are some design challenges along the way, but the results have really surprised us.
