The proposed building with its important civic role for the county coupled with the qualities inherent in this very particular site poses an architectural challenge of real complexity.

 

Therefore one of the main aspirations of our proposal is to find a balance between an appropriate representation and form for this civic building and the wish to maintain certain characteristics and qualities of the site not least its role as an open foreground and amenity for the town. 

 

The space of the site mediates between the sea and the town and the form of the building should respect this and enhance the experience.
