The scheme is a seven storey over basement office development which replaces an outdated and inefficient 1960s block. Ground and first floors are set back with an expressed V shaped frame structure which gives the building a unique identity in this context. The final seventh floor is also set back with terraces on three sides. The main entrance is located at the prominent northern corner of the site and takes the form of a double height covered external arrival space over which the building cantilevers. The reception and waiting functions address this space and are a natural extension of it.
The facade of the building is a triple skin arrangement which comprises a thermally broken unitized aluminium shallow depth twin skin curtain walling system with an integrated thermally efficient air cavity. The external skin of this twin skin solution comprises full height single glazing and the internal skin comprises of performance coated double glazing. Between the inner double glazed unit and the outer single glazing is a motorized (with occupant override) solar/ glare control venetian blind. Integrated within the system are aluminium feature profile to the vertical edges and stone horizontal banding at slab levels.
